Athletics General Info
Baird Middle School competes in the FUSD Middle School Athletic League.
Every Baird student, grades 5-8, is welcome and encouraged to try out for a sport, although not every student is assured a spot on a roster.
We do offer several “non-cut” sports, such as Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track & Field, in which all students are encouraged to participate.

Student-Athlete Responsibilities
- Athletes are expected to attend all practices, Monday-Friday, 3:35–5:00 pm. In the event of an absence, the athlete must notify the coach as early as possible.
- All athletes will wear a practice uniform to practice every day. A practice uniform consists of shorts or sweats in school colors and some type of “Baird” athletic T-shirt. (Example: “Baird Athletics, Baird Physical Education, Baird Track, etc.)
- Athletes must attend AST (Academic Support Time) in the morning (8:45- 9:10 am) whenever class is missed due to athletics. This is the time to communicate with teachers and complete any missed assignments.
- Athletes are expected to maintain and care for equipment and uniforms provided by the school. Athletes are responsible for all damaged or lost items issued for the sport.
